Exciting Poetry Sighting: "Summit" in A Year In Ink, Vol. 14

Exciting Poetry Sighting! Summit is special to me, written while hiking up a mountain in the Custer-Gallatin National Forest in Montana. I remember we were heading toward Sacagawea Pass, past snowfields and alpine succulents and towers of rock, when the words started to flow in my head. I put down my bag of Flathead cherries, my other bag of Flathead cherry pits, a water bottle and can of bear spray (this was grizzly country) and wrote this poem down. Naturally, I fell behind the others (typical poet problem!) and I snapped a quick pic as they trudged upward. Here's the poem and the picture! Can you hear the baby rivers, trickling, in their swaddling of snow?
